Jack Bovender, Jr., chairman and CEO of HCA Inc., has announced that he will retire as CEO at the end of this year, according to a statement issued by HCA.
Mr. Bovender will remain as executive chairman and a member of the board of directors until December of 2009. He has over 30 years of experience with HCA and, during his time as CEO, has overseen the organization during several critical ventures, including the acquisition of non-profit Health Midwest and taking the company private in 2006. "I have had the pleasure of spending virtually my entire career with the best healthcare organization in the world," said Bovender in the press release. "But now it's time to begin the process of succession.” In accordance with HCA’s succession plan, Richard Bracken, the current president and COO, will assume the role of CEO beginning in 2009. |
