Florida Hospital DeLand has purchased DeLand Surgery Center for $1.7 million.

The hospital will use the surgery center to house all of its outpatient gastrointestinal procedures when it reopens in 2009 following a redesign with “patient’s comfort and privacy in mind,” according to an announcement from the hospital.

“With the new location, we can facilitate comprehensive GI diagnostic procedures from colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy to upper endoscopy,” said Paul Goldberg, MD, one of four board-certified gastroenterologists which will serve on the center’s staff.

The other three gastroenterologists will be David Elijah, MD, Bharat Patel, MD and Martin Prado, MD.
