Blake Curd, MD, has been elected to represent the 12th District in the South Dakota House.
It was the first political outing for Dr. Curd, an Air Force veteran who is a member of the Physician Hospitals of America (PHA) board of directors, chairman of the board of directors and interim CEO for Surgical Management Professionals and owner of Sioux Falls Surgical Center. “I hope to get some experience, see what the process is like, see if I like it," Dr. Curd said following the election, according to the Argus Leader. "Like most things, politics is timing." Dr. Curd is known for speaking out on behalf of patient rights and safety, according to a press release from PHA.
