Braverman Eye Center (Hallandale Beach, Fla.). The surgery center recently acquired the Wavefront-Optimized LASIK and now performs custom optimized wavefront Lasik surgery. Since its inception in 1973, the center has been committed to serving the south Florida community. It is owned and operated by Stanley Braverman, MD, an ophthalmologist focusing on refractive cataract and implant surgery as well as corneal and LASIK/laser vision correction surgery. The center also offers cosmetic lid procedures as well as epi-LASIK and PRK corrective eye surgery.

Coral Springs (Fla.) Surgical Center. The surgery center recently added the LenSx image-guided femtosecond laser and announced that it has started offering laser-assisted cataract surgery. The center is s accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and certified by Medicare. It offers surgical services in a wide array of specialties, including ENT, gastroenterology, gynecology, general surgery, orthopedics, podiatry, pain management and urology.

Liberty Laser Eye Center (Vienna, Va.). The center has acquired the Nidek EC-5000 Topography guided Custom Excimer laser. "We are a refractive surgery specialized center, so offering the most advanced and best treatments for patients is our goal and a differentiating factor. The studies indicated this system delivered a clear patient advantage," says Nancy A. Tanchel, MD, medical director of the eye center.

The center also offers presby-LASIK, all-laser LASIK and wavefront analysis. More than 1 million patients have received the LASIK procedure at the center. It was the first in the region to acquire the Femto LDV femtosecond laser in 2008.

Noble Surgery Center (Visalia, Calif.). Noble Surgery Center recenetly acquired the Alcon LenSx femtosecond laser. Prior to acquiring the technology, the center's leaders prepared financially and educated surgical staff members. "Once we began cases, we tried different scheduling methods, tracked the surgical times, and quickly came to a system that keeps us efficient," says ophthalmologist Michael A. Boone, MD.

"We found the Alcon LenSx laser to be the best platform for us to deliver the highest quality eye surgical care.  Give the expense of this technology, we carefully chose a partner in Alcon who would support us without question and be there in the long run as this technology advances.  The ease of docking with the new patient interface impressed us.  My staff is happy we are able to keep patients on the same gurney for the LenSx and the cataract procedures, saving us time and the strain in transferring patients," he says. Noble Surgery Center is affiliated with Eye Surgical and Medical Associates.

Saint Vincent Surgery Center (Erie, Pa.). The surgery center recently acquired the iStent for glaucoma treatment. The iStent was the smallest medical implant ever when it received FDA approval in 2012, and it is designed to help fluid drain from the eye to reduce pressure and the risk of blindness associated with glaucoma. The freestanding center offers laparoscopic procedures as well as bariatric, ophthalmology and ENT services. Physicians and surgeons perform an estimated 10,000 procedures there annually.

Southgate (Mich.) Surgery Center. The center has acquired the LENSAR Laser System, which offers a safer and more accurate option for cataract removal than traditional surgery. The Medicare-certified surgery center offers ophthalmic, endoscopic and pain management services. The center includes 20 surgeons as well as anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists, nurses, technicians and administrators.

Suncoast Surgery Center (Fort Meyers, Fla.). The center recently acquired the VERION Image Guided System for cataract procedures. The system tracks the eye from the planning stages of surgery to the actual procedure. In 2013, the center acquired the ORA system and in 2012, he brought the LenSx Laser, the first bladeless laser for cataract surgery, to Southwest Florida.

"In preparing for the acquisition of this technology we took into account space, patient flow and staff education. It was important for us to be able to maintain our high level of surgical excellence, which is why we decided to implement this technology," says Dr, Frantz. "That is the most important aspect of continually updating to the latest technology; we want to have the best outcomes for our patients."

Opened in 2000, the surgery center is a part of Frantz EyeCare — Dr. Frantz's practice. It is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and includes two operating rooms. It offers care in ophthalmology. Dr. Frantz is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist and focuses on laser vision correction and cataract surgery.
