Dulaney Eye Institute (Towson, Md.). The surgery center offers eye muscle surgery and vitreo-retinal surgery. The purpose of eye muscle surgery is to weaken, strengthen or reposition any of the muscles that move the extraocular muscles, which control the eye. Vitreoretinal surgery refers to any surgical procedure that treats eye problems involving the retina, macula and vitreous fluid.

The Dulaney Eye Institute is a freestanding center, owned and operated by Katzen Eye Group. It was opened in 1995, and its surgeons have performed more than 91,000 surgical cases since. It includes four operating rooms and one procedure room. It offers a wide-array of ophthalmic procedures, including cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery and oculoplastics.

Eye Center of Northern Colorado (Fort Collins). Procedures offered by the surgery center include pediatric and adult eye muscle surgery and retinal surgery. Eye muscle surgery loosens, tightens or repositions the extraocular muscles controlling the eye. Retinal surgery includes procedures that treat diseases of the retina. The eye center includes two retinal specialists.

The surgery center has three locations in Colorado and is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and offers other ophthalmic procedures such as custom LASIK, cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery and corneal transplants. It includes 14 ophthalmologists and optometrists.

Surgical Center of Morgantown (Va.). The surgery center offers retina procedures that treat conditions and diseases of the retina. The freestanding center is accredited by The Joint Commission and it has been open for more than a decade, during which time it has performed nearly 20,000 surgeries. It includes seven ophthalmologists who perform numerous ophthalmic procedures, such as cataract surgeries, including multifocal intra-ocular lens implants, refractive surgeries, including LASIK and PRK and glaucoma surgeries.

Tinley Woods (Ill.) Surgery Center. The surgery center offer pediatric strabismus surgery. Strabismus surgery which loosens or tightens eye muscles, changing the alignment of the eyes relative to each other, according to the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.

"Because our ASC has outstanding pediatric anesthesia, we are able to perform in-OR adjustable suture surgery on younger strabismus patients," says Benjamin Ticho, MD, physician-owner of the center. "This also permits combined strabismus and lens or strabismus-oculoplastic procedures. Because the ASC gives me two rooms, I can do a topical anesthesia cataract procedure in one room while a patient recovers from anesthesia in the other, allowing continuous surgeon utilization."

As part of the Advocate Medical Campus-Southwest, the center is owned and managed as a joint venture between Advocate and surgeon investors. Opened in 2002, the 13,800-square-foot surgery center has four operating rooms and a minor procedure/endoscopy room. Its medical staff includes more than 100 member offering surgical services in pain management, oral surgery, ENT, gynecology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, gastroenterology and urology.

Virginia Eye Institute (Richmond). The eye institute's outpatient surgery center offers vitreo-retinal procedures that treat conditions affecting the retina, macula and vitreous fluid as well as pediatric and adult strabismus procedures, which loosens or tightens eye muscles, according to the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.

The surgery center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and includes board-certified ophthalmologists and anesthesiologists. The Virginia Eye Institute physicians perform a wide-range of ophthalmic procedures at the center, including cataract and premium intraocular lens implant surgery, LASIK and refractive surgery, glaucoma treatment and corneal transplants. The outpatient surgery center is also a practice site for Virginia Ear Nose & Throat Associates, which provides ENT services.
