Ambulatory Surgery Center at Old Bridge (N.J.). Nasser Ani, MD, performs knee surgery at the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Old Bridge and offers his patients customized implants. Dr. Ani practices with Orthopaedic & Spine Institute of New Jersey. In addition to performing general orthopedic procedures, Dr. Ani is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon.
Brookside Surgery Center (Battle Creek, Mich.). Brookside Surgery Center, partnered with Meridian Surgical Partners and Bronson Battle Creek, is an 11,540-square-foot, multispecialty surgery center. Orthopedic surgeon Joseph Burkhardt, DO, performs knee replacement surgery at the ASC using the ConforMIS iUni G2 device, a partial knee resurfacing device customized for each patient. "Customized knee implants are less invasive and require less bony resection and resurfacing. You are not molding the bone to fit the implant; rather you are using an implant that fits with a patient's natural anatomy" said Dr. Burkhardt in a Becker's ASC Review article. Cherry Creek Surgery Center (Denver). The surgery center is utilized by Peak Orthopedics and Spine, a five-physician practice that focuses on total and partial joint replacements, arthroscopy, sports medicine and spinal disorders and deformities. It also offers pain management services, such as platelet rich plasma injections. Craig Loucks, MD, and Robert Greenhow, MD, perform partial knee replacements using the ConforMIS device.
Greenspring Surgery Center (Baltimore). The surgery center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and Medicare, and is a part of the Blue Chip Partners Surgery Centers network. It offers surgical services in orthopedics, neurosurgical spine and pain management. Its physician team is comprised of 15 members, performing numerous procedures such as arthroscopy, ligament repair and lumbar and cervical spine surgery.
"The off-the-shelf implants do not fit perfectly," says Barry Waldman, MD, orthopedic surgeon who performs procedures with ConforMIS at the center. "They either overhang, meaning they rub on soft tissues, or they're too small and the bone sticks out. The closer we can get those parts to fitting the knee, the happier the patient's going to be and the more natural it's going to feel."
INOVA HealthPlex Surgery Center (Alexandria, Va.). The outpatient surgical center is a part of Inova HealthPlex-Franconia/Springfield, which is a full-service outpatient facility that also includes a 24-hour emergency department, diagnostic radiology and laboratory. John P. Byrne, MD, of Clinton, Md.-based Greater Metropolitan Orthopaedic Institute, performs procedures at the surgery center using the iUni G2 device.
Lakes Surgery Center (West Bloomfield, Mich.). The surgery center is licensed by the
Commonwealth of Michigan and is fully accredited by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. It includes four operating rooms, two procedure rooms, exam rooms and preoperative/recovery areas. It offers surgical services in a number of specialties, including ENT, orthopedics, general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, podiatry and urology.
According to Ronald Lederman, MD, the ConforMIS device is unlike any other implant on the market because there are two separate inserts customized to fit the patient's anatomy, their ligaments and all of their soft tissue envelope. "This is a crucial element that allows a more normal range of motion, a more normal feel to that range of motion and often more stability," he says.
"There is no other company out there except ConforMIS that has a true patient-specific, custom component made for each individual. Because of that, you see increased motion and happier outcomes," says Mark Kwartowitz, DO, an orthopedic surgeon at the center, who performs procedures using the device. "It's really a neat endeavor that we're embarking on. I think it's at its infancy, but I think the long term results are going to continue to the point where everyone is going to want this patient-specific total knee replacement."
Metropolitan Surgical Institute (South Amboy, N.J.). Metropolitan Surgical Institute offers orthopedic surgery, pain management, hand surgery and spine surgery and neurosurgery. Thirty-five physicians perform cases at the center, including orthopedic surgeon Marshall P. Allegra, MD. Dr. Allegra offers his knee surgery patients the iUni G2 implant. He has performed more than 500 hip and knee replacements. The Metropolitan Surgical Institute is accredited by the Joint Commission.
Millennium Surgical Center (Cherry Hill, N.J.). Millennium Surgical Center is affiliated with United Surgical Partners International. The center opened in 2007. Piccard Surgery Center (Rockville, Md.). Established in 2009, the surgery center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. The multispecialty center is also licensed by the State of Maryland and is in partnership with SurgCenter Development. It includes a medical staff of 17 physicians. Sridhar Durbhakula, MD, performs partial knee replacement procedures with the ConforMIS iUni G2 device.
Rancho Mirage (Calif.) Surgery Center. The 14,000-square-foot center features three operating suites and a procedure room, along with preoperative and post operative areas. It is a multispecialty ASC, focusing on orthopedic surgery, general surgery, ENT, urology, podiatry and pain management. It is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. Raj Sinha, MD, PhD, offers patients the ConforMIS iUni G2 device.
"Patients are looking for minimally traumatic alternatives that give them the opportunity to get back to their routines more quickly. "The fact that the ConforMIS knee comes in its own sterilized box and the staff doesn't need to bring in six trays of instruments to sterilize is a huge advantage. It also helps to prevent exposure to infections," says Dr. O'Hearn. "At our surgery center a number of patients have had the ConforMIS knee on an outpatient basis and everyone is pleased with their experience and their outcomes."

UnaSource Surgery Center (Troy, Mich.). Alan Biddinger, MD, PhD, performs procedures at the center using the ConforMIS device.
