10 Phoenix ASCs to know

Phoenix is the linchpin of the Phoenix metropolitan area, also known as the Valley of the Sun. It features excellent healthcare facilities, such as Banner Health and one of three Mayo Clinic locations, and includes some of the finest ASCs in the country.

Here are 10 ASCs that are located in Phoenix.

Biltmore Surgery Center. The surgery center offers surgical services in numerous specialties, such as orthopedics, ENT, pain management, general surgery, oral surgery, gynecology and podiatry. The center is affiliated with Sovereign Healthcare and includes a team of highly trained physicians, nurses and technicians.

Canyon Surgery Center. Established in 1999, the surgery center is physician-owned and maintained. It's physicians offer care in a wide array of specialties including orthopedics, ophthalmology, ENT, gynecology, plastic surgery and podiatry. The 19,000-square-ffot facility includes four operating rooms and minor procedure rooms. It includes different types of equipment such as mini and regular C-arms as well as microscopes.   

Central Phoenix Surgical Center. The ASC is accredited by AAAHC and certified by Medicare. The facility includes an operating room that features a 9900 Series C-Arm and a Marko Med Anesthesia Machine. It also includes a recovery room with three beds. The center offers a variety of pain management procedures.

Squaw Peak Surgical Facility. The surgery center was founded by Anthony Yeung, MD, in 1998 to complement his practice, Desert Institute for Spine Care. It features two operating rooms and is focused on endoscopic spine surgery and minimally invasive treatment options. Treatments offered at the center include endoscopic transforaminal thoracic and lumbar spine decompression as well as Yeung Endoscopic Spine Surgery.

Desert Ridge Outpatient Surgery Center. The surgery center is an affiliate of United Surgical Partners International, and it is Medicare-certified. It features four operating rooms and two treatment rooms. It offers surgical services in gastroenterology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, ENT, pain management and podiatry.

Gateway Surgery Center. The freestanding facility includes seven operating rooms and a pain procedure room. The center is accredited by AAAHC and its physicians offer care in orthopedics, spine care and pain management. Richard Brooks serves as administrator of the ASC.

McDowell Ambulatory Surgery Center. The Medicare-certified ASC offers a wide array of interventional pain management procedures, including facet joint injections, lateral nerve branch blocks, radiofrequency nerve ablation/neurotomy, joint injections and sympathetic nerve blocks.

Surgicenter. The ASC is the first freestanding surgery center in the country. It opened in 1970 and today, it includes seven operating rooms, three endoscopy rooms, three overnight stay beds and 23 pre-and post-operative beds as well as a pain center. Physicians at the center perform more than 800 procedures every month. It offers surgical services in ENT, gastroenterology, general surgery, orthopedics, gynecology and pain management.

Banner Estrella Surgery Center. The multispecialty surgery center was opened in 2005. Banner Health owns the facility and it has a management contract with Banner Surgery Centers. The nonprofit center includes 30 physicians who provide care in a number of specialties, such as ophthalmology, gynecology, endoscopy procedures, pediatric urology and ENT.

AZ West Endoscopy Center. The endoscopy-focused ASC was developed by a four-physician collaboration — Hector Rodriguez, MD; Patrick Lam, DO; Mansur Khan, MD; and Kandarp Patel, DO. It was opened in 2011 and today, it includes six physician owners. Physicians Endoscopy is the managing partner/owner of the center, which is also certified by Medicare and accredited by The Joint Commission. Matthew A. Willden serves as the administrator and Dr. Hector Rodriguez serves as medical director of the ASC.
