AMA revenues total $323.7M, membership increases for 6th consecutive year: 7 takeaways

The American Medical Association reported membership growth for the sixth consecutive year, according to its 2016 Annual Report.

Here are seven takeaways:

1. Members increased by 2.6 percent in 2016.

2. The AMA generated revenues of $323.7 million, up from $308.8 million in 2015.

3. The association had 983 employees at the year's end, compared to 957 in 2015.

4. AMA accrued $13.6 million in pro forma operating results in 2016.

5. In 2016, the AMA added 21 new schools to the AMA Accelerating Change in Medical Education Consortium.

6. More than 40,000 physicians utilized AMA's various initiatives last year.

7. Last year, AMA compensation and benefits rallied $4.8 million.
