A Medscape poll found a fraction of physicians and nurses said they do not know if they would lie under oath to protect a colleague.

Here are five takeaways:

1. Of physician respondents, 5 percent said they would lie under oath to protect a colleague and 71 percent said they would not.

2. Twenty-four percent of physicians reported being unsure what they would do.

3. Two percent of nurses said they would lie under oath to protect a colleague.

4. A large majority (87 percent) of nurses said they would not lie under oath to protect a colleague.

5. Eleven percent of nurses said they were unsure.
