Physicians Well-Represented in Congress
There will be at least 14 MDs in the 111th Congress, two more than in the current session, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Some other interesting facts from the WSJ's health blog:
- Ten of the physician congressmen are Republicans, four are Democrats.
- All nine physicians who ran for House re-election held their seats.
- There are two doctors in the Senate.
- The most well-represented specialty is OB/GYN, with five of the 14 physician representatives.
