New Legislation Passed to Improve Health Programs for Veterans, Seniors and Children
The House of Representatives has passed new legislation that would clarify and improve programs related to the Veterans', Seniors and Children's Health Technical Corrections Act, according to report by AHA News Now.
The new law clarifies and includes the following specifications:
• The distribution of unused residency slots under the Medicare Graduate Medical Education program
• Includes "orphan drugs" for children's hospitals
• Repeals delay of the skilled nursing facility RUG-IV payment system
• Provides funding for claims reprocessing dating back to Jan. 1, 2010
• Extends Section 508 hospital wage index reclassification program
