GI endoscopists and gastroenterology nurses who assist with
endoscopic procedures can now access a new online resource which will provide
them with the latest information on endoscopic sedation.
The objectives of the Web site, www.sedationfacts.org, are to provide
an “easy-to-access online body of knowledge about the science, pharmacology,
practice management and regulatory environment of endoscopic sedation” and
“improve the understanding of endoscopic sedation among GI medical
professionals and trainees, giving them the information they need to improve
their knowledge and to ensure patient safety,” according to a press release
from the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
The site is a joint project of the ASGE, the American
Gastroenterological Association Institute and the Society of Gastroenterology
Nurses and Associates.
The content was developed and is maintained under the
guidance from GI physicians and nurses from the societies. It includes the
following sections:
- Sedation medications
- Physiology of sedation
