Study: Mistletoe Extract Effective Against Colon Cancer Cells

The results of a new study indicate an extract from mistletoe is "highly effective" against colon cancer cells, according to a news release.

The study, conducted by a science student at Australia's University of Adelaide, compared the effectiveness of different types of mistletoe extract and chemotherapy on colon cancer cells, and also compared the affect of mistletoe extract and chemotherapy on healthy intestinal cells.

It was found that one of the mistletoe extracts was particularly effective against colon cancer cells and gentler on healthy intestinal cells compared with chemotherapy.
