Microfabrica, US Endoscopy create submillimeter 'world's first' biopsy forceps: 3 things to know

Santa Clara, Calif.-based Microfabrica partnered with Mentor, Ohio-based US Endoscopy to produce the "world's first" submillimeter biopsy forceps.

Here's what you should know.

1. The forceps improve tissue biopsy's reliability in the GI tract.

2. The forceps are primarily used in pancreatic cancer treatments.

3. Microfabrica can produce complex 3-D structures similar to 3-D printing. However, Microfabrica's structures facilitate high precision surgery.
