GI physicians perform live MUSE procedure at Winthrop-University Hospital

Gastroenterologists Glen Lehman, MD, and William Kessler, MD, performed the first live Medigus Ultrasonic Surgical Endostapler procedure in the United States at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, N.Y., according to an EndoNurse report.

The MUSE procedure is an incisionless procedure designed to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Stavros Stavropoulos, MD, chief of endoscopy at Winthrop-University Hospital, moderated the procedure, which was performed during the 7th Annual Long Island Live Endoscopy Course.

Dr. Lehman and Dr. Kessler practice with Indiana University Health in Indianapolis.
