GI physician leader to know: Dr. Peter Draganov of University of Florida Health

Peter V. Draganov, MD, is a professor of medicine in the gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition division at University of Florida Health in Gainesville. He is a past president of the Florida Gastroenterologic Society. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and American College of Gastroenterology.

Dr. Draganov's clinical interests include ERCP, endoscope, endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopy and pancreatic carcinoma. He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He is also interested in research and his work has been published in Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Draganov has won a number of awards including the National Quality Week Shands Star Award for exceptional empathy, compassion or advocacy in interactions with patients and the Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Gastroenterology and Hepatology from the American College of Physicians. He has also won the Scientific Poster Recognition Award from the Southern Medical Association.

Dr. Draganov earned his medical degree at the Medical Academy of Sofia in Bulgaria. He completed his residency and fellowship at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
