GI physician leader to know: Dr. Mark Noar of Endoscopy Microsurgery Associates

Mark Noar, MD, MPH, is a gastroenterologist and therapeutic endoscopist serving as medical director and CEO of Endoscopy Microsurgery Associates in Towson, Md. He also serves as chairman and CEO of The 3CPM Company, which focuses on the research, development, sales and marketing of electrogastrography equipment that Dr. Noar co-invented. The technology was selected for exclusive use by the NIH for diabetic gastroparesis research. Additionally, he provides care at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, Md.

Dr. Noar's clinical and research interests include the field of endoscopic endoluminal treatment for GERD, Secca correction of fecal incontinence, development of advanced medical simulation devices, the motility abnormalities associated with GERD and electrogastrography. Dr. Noar is also the founder and head of the Noar Foundation for Global Community Development, which focuses on the development of off-the-grid subsistence farming communities around the world.

Dr. Noar earned his medical degree in the Dominican Republic and completed his fellowship training in gastroenterology at the Downstate Medical Center/Brooklyn VA in New York City and completed his therapeutic endoscopy training at the University Hospital in Hamburg, Germany. He completed his master's in public health in tropical medicine and international health at Tulane University in New Orleans.
