GI physician leader to know: Dr. Glenn Eisen of The Oregon Clinic

Glenn M. Eisen, MD, MPH, practices with the West Hills Gastroenterology division of The Oregon Clinic based in Portland. He is currently Clinical Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. He previously served as director of endoscopy and professor of medicine in the gastroenterology division at OHSU, and he was the executive co-director of the Clinical Outcomes Research Initiative.

Dr. Eisen has served as editor-in-chief of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and a member of the editorial board of Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He has also previously served as chair of the Imaging and Advanced Technology Section of the American Gastroenterological Association and member of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases ERCP Technical Advisory Group.

Dr. Eisen currently serves as vice president of the GI Quality Improvement Consortium. He has won several honors and awards, including the Edward J. Berk State of the Art Endowed Lecture from the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine.

Dr. Eisen earned his medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.  He completed his residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and his gastroenterology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. Additionally, he has completed a Master's degree in public health at the University of North Carolina School of Public Health in Chapel Hill.
