GI illness quarantines 25% of Oregon retirement home: 3 things to know

Jennings McCall Continuing Retirement Community in Forest Grove, Ore., has seen a 'gastrointestinal event' effect about one-quarter of residents, reports OregonLive.com.

Here are three things to know:

  • Washington County Health and Human Services believes the illness is caused by a norovirus.
  • Washington County guidelines for noroviruses in group care facilities require sick residents to be confined to their rooms and group activities cancelled.
  • The county is currently conducting sample on tests to provide a more specific diagnosis.
