James A. Vecchio, MD, is chief of the gastroenterology and hepatology division at the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington.
Dr. Vecchio's clinical interests include various motility disorders, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease and celiac disease. Vermont Magazine included him in their "Best Doctors in Vermont" list in 1996. The Burlington Free Press also named him the "People's Choice Award" for Best Doctor in 1998.
Dr. Vecchio earned his medical degree from McGill University in Canada and completed his residency at Royal Victoria Hospital, also in Canada. He underwent his gastroenterology fellowship at Montreal General Hospital in Canada.
