The Miami Herald profiled Miami-based Gastro Health's Andres Gelrud.
Here's what you should know:
1. Dr. Gelrud joined Gastro Health earlier in July.
2. He came to Gastro Health after serving as the University of Chicago Medical Center's Pancreatic Diseases Center director. He will serve as a gastroenterologist at Gastro Health and as the director of the pancreatic disease at the Miami Cancer Institute.
3. Dr. Gelrud earned his medical degree from the University of Venezuela. He completed an internship and residency at Boston-based Tufts Medical Center and fellowships in gastroenterology, pancreatology and interventional endoscopy at Boston-based Brigham and Women's Health.
4. Dr. Gelrud shared the best piece of advice he received with the Herald: "Lead by example, and the harder you work, the luckier you will get."
