Florida GIs, Endoscopy Center to Offer Free Screenings for Uninsured Patients
Digestive Disease Associates and North Florida Endoscopy Center in Gainesville, Fla., will offer free colonoscopies to 50 uninsured patients during the month of March, according to a report in The Gainesville Sun.
Gastroenterologists will offer the screenings to people who are over 50 and who have lost their jobs, are uninsured and have never had a colonoscopy, according to the report. Patients who are interested are advised to call the practice.
Physicians say providing the screenings will send a message to many in the community that getting screened is important in the prevention of colon cancer.
