The American Cancer Society has awarded Stephen J. Meltzer, MD, an American Cancer Society Clinical Research Professorship for his research on Barrett's Esophagus, according to a News Medical report.
Dr. Meltzer is studying molecular biomarkers that are able to identify Barrett's Esophagus and indicate when a patient is likely to develop esophageal cancer.
