In 2012, gastroenterologists ranked as the fourth-highest paid physician specialty, behind orthopedists, cardiologists and radiologists, with a mean annual income of $342,000, according to the Medscape Gastroenterologist Compensation Report 2013.
Physicians in the northwest took home more than those in any other region of the country.
