New guidelines for CRC molecular testing released.
The American Society of Clinical Oncology, Association for Molecular Pathology, College of American Pathologists and American Society of Clinical Pathology released new guidelines for molecular testing in cases of primary or metastatic colorectal carcinoma. The guidelines are open to public comment through April 22.

US Endoscopy releases new resection device.
US Endoscopy has released its Histolock Resection Device. The device has a stiff monofilament wire. It is designed to resect flat lesions during difficult polypectomy procedures, such as endoscopic mucosal resection, according to the report.

BioSig Technologies names Dr. Jerome Zeldis to board of directors.
Medical device company BioSig Technologies named Jerome Zeldis, MD, PhD, to its board of directors. Dr. Zeldis currently serves as the CEO of Celgene Global Health and CMO of Celgene Corporation.

Holzer Health System names Dr. Christopher Meyer CEO.
Christopher Meyer, DO, was named CEO and chairman of the board of Gallipolis, Ohio-based Holzer Health System, effective Jan. 1. Dr. Meyer has 37 years of experience in healthcare, including 13 years working for Holzer as a practicing gastroenterologist.

FDA approves Ethicon's sealant patch for liver surgery indication.
The FDA has approved the expanded indication for EVARREST Fibrin Sealant Patch from Ethicon. The expand indication allows the patch to be used for the control of bleeding during adult liver surgery. EVARREST is a novel, bioabsorbable hemostat designed to offer hemostatic efficacy, adherence and mechanical strength.

Mercy, Rockford health systems merger to expand GI care.
Due to the recent merger between Janesville, Wis.-based Mercy Health System and Rockford (Ill.) Health System, children with gastrointestinal issues will be able to receive care in Janesville. A number of pediatric gastroenterology physicians from Rockford Health System will begin seeing patients at Mercy Clinic East in Janesville on a weekly basis. They will provide care for children with a number of gastrointestinal conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease and celiac disease.

Dr. William Tremaine to chair University of Minnesota research reform team.
The University of Minnesota in Minneapolis has established a team that will lead the reform of its research program. William Tremaine, MD, a gastroenterologist with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., will chair the team. Dr. Tremaine also serves as the director of the Mayo Clinic Institutional Review Board.
