4 things to know about the AGA's new President Dr. Sheila Crowe

Sheila Crowe, MD, assumed her position as the 112th president of the American Gastroenterological Association after Digestive Disease Week, May 6 through May 9 in Chicago, concluded.

Here are four things to know about Dr. Crowe.

1. Dr. Crowe is a researcher with a clinical practice focused on celiac disease and food allergies.

2. She is a UC San Diego professor of medicine and director of research in the gastroenterology divison.

3. Dr. Crowe was previously associated with Hamilton, Ontario-based McMaster University, Galveston-based University of Texas and Charlottesville-based University of Virginia.

4. In addition to working on the AGA's board, Dr. Crowe worked with AGA committees associated with research, education and women.
