3 Quick Tips for Faster Room Turnover
Brien Fausone, administrator of Michigan Endoscopy Center, a single-specialty GI ASC managed by Physicians Endoscopy, offers the following three tips to increase room turnover time.
1. Always have a patient "on deck " in pre-op for each physician — That way, as the case finishes in the room, the next patient is ready and waiting.
2. "Do one; See one" — Have the physicians see each patient after the procedure [not two or three patients] and return to the procedure room. This should take 10 minutes.
3. Dictation in the room — Provide clinical dictation or charting in the room. This way the physician is focused on the room and the schedule, [which means] less time for distraction between cases.
