3 Benchmarks for Billing and Collections
|
Here are three benchmarks for ASCs to adhere to in billing and collections. They are excerpted from a story that will run in full in the Nov./Dec. issue of the Becker's ASC Review and include 10 benchmarks and more than 15 best practices.
Transcription -- Within 24 hours or less after the the procedure is performed, if not before.
Coding -- Completed within 48 hours or less; the claim should go out the door the same day the case is coded and charged.
Claims billed out -- Within 24 to 72 hours from date of service, with the higher-end target to account for possible delays caused by issues such as time needed to resolve any discrepancies concerning procedure information or slow dictation from surgeons, but 72 hours should be the exception and not the rule.
This is just one of the topics that will be covered in the Nov./Dec. issue of the Becker's ASC Review. Also included: enhancing GI profitability, ENT trends, healthcare IT and keys for turning around trouble ASCs. Don't miss all this and more -- subscribe now.
