To clarify a statement made in a previously published story: "Medicare will not reimburse for a patient who is treated in an ASC that resides in a skilled nursing facility" -- Certain parties may be getting reimbursed for such services. It has been our general understanding that the ASC should be paid by the SNF and not Medicare itself when services are provided to a patient of an SNF. We advise each center to consult their own billing consultant and counsel.
