In the News: Judge's Rejection of Malpractice Damages Limit Could Impact Georgia's Tort Reform Laws Print

A county judge in Georgia has rejected the cap on monetary awards in a medical malpractice case, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC). The decision may have repercussions on the state’s tort reform laws; there is currently a $350,000 cap for non-economic damages.

N.J. Decision May Cause Big Challenges for State's Physician-Owned ASCs Print

A new case (Endo Surgi Center v. Liberty Mutual Insurance Company), in the aftermath of the original Garcia v. Health Net of New Jersey (also known as the Codey Case), may spell larger problems for New Jersey-based surgery centers. Endo Surgi Center holds that a New Jersey payor need not pay a physician-owned ASC that operates out of compliance with the Codey Act.

MedAssets to Acquire Accuro Health Solutions Print

Group purchasing organization MedAssets has announced it will acquire Accuro Healthcare Solutions, a provider of revenue cycle management solutions for hospitals and other healthcare providers. The combination of MedAssets and Accuro creates a leading healthcare ASP-based technology and services provider with 2007 pro forma net revenue of approximately $278 million; the combined companies' customer footprint is expected to exceed 3,300 U.S. hospitals, including more than 2,000 RCM hospital facility customers.
