Vatican holding regenerative medicine discussion in April 2016: 5 things to know

The Vatican will host the Third International Conference on the Progress of Regenerative Medicine and its Cultural Impact in April 2016, according to CBS News.

Here are five things to know:

1. Physicians, Cellular researchers, businessmen, patients, political figures, ethicists and philanthropists will attend the event.

2. Discussions will be held on the future of adult stem cells treating medical conditions.

3. Pediatric cancer, genetic diseases and geriatric diseases will receive particular emphasis at the event.

4. Conference attendees will discuss the intersection of regenerative medicine and faith, as well as how to fund future cellular research.

5. The Vatican's Pontifical Council for Culture, Stem for Life Foundation and Science, Theology and the Ontological Quest collaborated on the event.
