UC San Diego Health ranked 1st in San Diego by U.S. News & World Report: 4 key facts

UC San Diego Health and its hospitals topped the list of San Diego hospitals in U.S. News & World Report.

Here are four key facts:

1. UC San Diego has ranked first in San Diego for five consecutive years.

2. The hospital is also ranked in the top 50 nationally in 12 specialties including areas such as cancer, geriatrics and orthopedics.

3. UC San Diego plans to open Jacobs Medical Center in 2016, which is the largest hospital project in California. The 10-story building will host advanced surgery, cancer care and women and infants care.

4. Paul Viviano, CEO of UC San Diego, attributes the positive rankings to "extraordinary efforts of our [their] team to offer demonstrable superior clinical care…"
