Trump unveils private health plan on '60 Minutes' — Is it the same as the ACA? 5 key thoughts

Donald Trump outlined his private plan for healthcare on 60 Minutes, which draws many comparisons to the Affordable Care Act, according to Forbes.

Here are five key thoughts:

1. Mr. Trump's plan would cover all Americans. He said, "the government's gonna pay for it."

2. He stated the plan would have private companies involved in giving health coverage to all Americans and would make deals with existing hospitals to take care of U.S. residents.

3. The ACA allows private insurance companies to cover millions of Americans. Those Americans without insurance can buy private coverage through a government-run marketplace from companies like Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

4. The Supreme Court rules states could opt out of expanding Medicaid coverage with nearly 20 states opposing Medicaid expansion.

5. Mr. Trump has not revealed how private companies would be utilized to give his version of government-funded universal coverage.

"I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not," Mr. Trump said. "Everybody's going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now."
