Survey: Nearly 40% of Physicians Not Sure About Structure, Purpose of Medical Homes

Nearly a third of physicians are unsure about the structure and purpose of medical homes, according to "A Survey of America's Physicians: Practice Patterns and Perspectives," released by The Physicians Foundation.
The report includes responses from 13,575 physicians. The survey was conducted on behalf of The Physicians Foundation by Merritt Hawkins and completed in September 2012. 

When asked which of the following statements best describes their feelings towards medical homes, respondents reported:

•    They are likely to increase quality/reduce costs — 24.4 percent
•    They are unlikely to improve quality/reduce costs — 37.7 percent
•    Unsure about structure/purpose of medical homes — 37.9 percent
