Surgeons, anesthesiologists have best-paying jobs of 2014

Among the highest-paying jobs in the U.S., healthcare professions top the list.

Which American jobs pay the most? The answers, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, are surgery and anesthesiology.

According to the bureau, anesthesiologists earn an average salary of $235,070 per year, and surgeons earn an average of $233,150 per year.

Other healthcare professions are also top earners on the list of average salaries, with healthcare professions making up 13 of the top 20 highest-paying jobs in the United States in 2014, according to the BLS' wage data.

4. Obstetricians and gynecologists — $212,570
