Health officials appointed by former President George W. Bush are strongly advising the Senate to confirm Andy Slavitt as administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, according to The Hill.

Here are five things to know:

1. The group consists of two former health secretaries and four former Medicare chiefs.

2. Former Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt is leading the group. Each member has previously worked with Mr. Slavitt.

3. The group believes Andy Slavitt's extensive work in the private sector gives him superior understanding of health markets, which is pertinent to CMS.

4. Andy Slavitt recently worked for UnitedHealthGroup and was sought by the Obama administration to save the HealthCare.gov site after the website's rollout in 2013.

5. He is currently interim leader of CMS after Marilyn Tavenner stepped down earlier this year.
