Regional Pain Institute offering stem cell and platelet rich plasma injections to patients — 4 notes

The Regional Pain Institute, a multidisciplinary interventional pain management practice in Queen Creek and Scottsdale, Ariz., is presently administering stem cell and platelet rich plasma injections.

Here are four notes:

1. Stem cell therapy entails harvesting a patient's own cells and injecting them into damaged areas to aid in the healing process.

2. PRP injections use a patient's own platelets, which have numerous proteins crucial for the healing process of injuries. The injections separate platelets from other blood cells as well as increase platelet concentration during centrifugation.

3. The combination of platelets and the remaining blood is injected into the injured area to stimulate healing of bone, soft tissues, tendons and inflammation. Reports claim several athletes including Bryant Manning, Tiger Woods and Rafael Nadal received PRP injections.

4. Kevin Henry, MD, founder of the Regional Pain Institute and a leading pain management specialist, states stem cell and PRP injections will reduce and eliminate pain while also serving as a viable alternative to surgery.
