Physicians prepared to take on mobile healthcare — 5 findings

A Merck Manual survey found physicians are ready to take on technology and are currently leveraging technology to improve their practice, according to Mobile Commerce Press.

Merck Manual polled 220 physicians for the survey.

Here are five findings:

1. Most respondents (81 percent) reported the ability to obtain medical information via their mobile device has changed many operations at their office.

2. Most respondents also said they are prepared for what is coming down the pipeline in terms of technology and feel tech savvy enough to use the devices appropriately.

3. Nearly 75 percent reported they use mobile technology, at minimum, 10 times each day to access medical information. Physicians said the technology allows them to keep pace with patient interaction needs and demands for time.

4. Of those polled, 80 percent said they utilize information they obtain through mobile health apps and online information databases to provide themselves more detailed information when making a diagnosis or recommending a treatment plan.

5. Sixty-six percent of physicians are staying updated with medical news via mobile devices.
