Gastroenterologists

Participating in an accountable care organization: 2 percent
Not in an ACO now but planning to be in the coming year: 9 percent

How will ACOs affect your income?


It is too soon to tell: 31 percent
They will cause a large decline in income: 36 percent
They will cause a slight decline in income: 25 percent
They will have little or no effect on income: 8 percent

General surgeons

Level of participation

Participating in an accountable care organization: 3 percent
Not in an ACO now but planning to be in the coming year: 6 percent

How will ACOs affect your income?

It is too soon to tell: 32 percent
They will cause a large decline in income: 34 percent
They will cause a slight decline in income: 24 percent
