Here are nine notes on mean case volume at orthopedics-driven ambulatory surgery centers, according to VMG’s latest Intellimaker ASC study.

•    Per year: 3,760
•    Per day: 15

Total number of surgical cases per operating room

•    Per year: 754
•    Per day: 3

Total number of non-surgical cases per procedure room

•    Per year: 688
•    Per day: 2.8

Percentage of cases performed by:

•    Top two physicians: 33 percent
•    Top five physicians: 59 percent
•    Top 10 physicians: 80 percent

Note: Becker’s ASC Review defines “orthopedics-driven ASCs” as ASCs with a case mix that is more than 50 percent orthopedics.
