New Jersey Eye Center ASC performs 30k cataract surgeries

New Jersey Eye Center Ambulatory Surgery Center in Bergenfield has performed 30,000 cataract surgeries since 1978.

The New Jersey Eye Center ASC was the state's first outpatient cataract surgery center. James Dello Russo, DO, serves as the managing director of the center.

"We are better equipped to handle cataract surgery than most hospitals, because we specialize in that type of surgery. There is no logical or medical reason for someone in good health to go to a hospital for cataract surgery," said Dr. Dello Russo. "You don't need general anesthesia, the recovery is quick, the cost is much less, about half — and the savings in anxiety are even greater. Insurance covers the cost of outpatient cataract surgery, and for those who are uninsured, a convenient payment plan can be arranged.  We also provide local transportation for the day and the first post-op day following cataract surgery."
