Missouri's St. John's Ambulatory Surgery Center Wins Praise From Patient, Family

In an editorial for the Springfield News-Leader, Richard E. Thompson discussed a "good experience" he had with St. John's Ambulatory Surgery Center in Springfield, Mo.

According to Mr. Thompson, patients "need to hear positive stories to balance negative news about high cost, limited accessibility and inconsistent quality." Mr. Thompson, who served for several years as a consultant helping hospitals prepare for Joint Commission surveys, found that newspaper often refused to run accreditation news about hospitals.

He said his father-in-law, who recently underwent surgery at St. John's ASC, was pleased with his visit and that his surgical procedures were "handled to perfection by the surgical team." He added that the surgery center sent a card signed by his father-in-law's physician and nine nurses and technicians following the surgery.
