Here are 10 do's and don't for effective apologizing:

Do's

•    Show remorse.
•    Take responsibility.
•    Show empathy.
•    Plan restoration — to make everything right.
•    Lay out a plan of action.

Don'ts

•    Don't ramble.
•    Don't be conditional.
•    Don't explain.
•    Don't ask for forgiveness.
•    Don't apologize if you can't live up to the apology.
