Laser Spine Institute breaks ground on bigger, $56M headquarters — 6 things to know

Laser Spine Institute, based in Tampa, Fla., broke ground on a new headquarters in Westshore and plans to add 100 new jobs, according to a report from The Tampa Tribune.

Here are six things to know about the new facility:

1. The building will be 176,000-square-feet and allow physicians to treat 25 percent more patients than they do at the current facility. Laser Spine Institute provides services for around 425 patients per month at the current facility.

2. Laser Spine Institute is spending $56 million on the new headquarters, which is bigger, and ambulatory surgery center. The expansion will require around 100 new employees.

3. Construction on the new facility is expected to complete in early 2016. The company now has more than 900 employees and there are 35 physicians performing cases at their centers.

4. Laser Spine Institute currently reports 60 percent of cases are performed in Tampa; the corporation has several other surgery center locations, including three new this year in the Midwest.

5. Around 80 percent of the cases performed at the Tampa facility are traveling for their care.

6. The new headquarters will have 10 operating rooms and the opportunity to expand in the future, according to the report.
