HCA renews contracts with Humana, SCA reports net operating revenue of $253.7M & more — 4 key notes on ASC companies

Here are four updates on ASC companies:

1.  Humana renewed its contract with Hospital Corporation of America's hospitals. HCA-affiliated Florida hospitals and Humana reached a two-year agreement, allowing commercial and Medicaid members, Humana Medicare and CarePlus Health Plans Medicare members to receive in-network care at HCA hospitals, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

2. AmSurg's Andrew Weiss was elected president of the New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers. Mr. Weiss presently serves as the administrator of The Endo Center at Voorhees in Township, N.J.

3. Tenet Healthcare was hit by $136 million in write-downs, acquisition-related costs, restructuring changes and various other one-time items, partially contributing to their second quarter losses. Tenet lost $61 million between April and June, according to Market Watch.

4. Surgical Care Affiliates released its second quarter results. SCA reported net operating revenue of $253.7 million, a growth of 21.5 percent over the prior year's second quarter, according to GlobeNewswire.
