Flu season: 5 steps to get your business ready

Even though this year's flu season is looking particularly formidable, NJBiz.com says there are a few steps you can prepare so that the bug doesn't affect your bottom line as seriously.

The five tips they offer are:

1. Hold an onsite flu clinic
"This offers convenience to your employees and eliminates the need for them to leave the office during the work day or find a place that offers one on the weekend."

2. Keep it clean
"There are a number of office cleaning supplies available that have the Environmental Protection Agency's approval for effectiveness against the Influenza A virus."

3. Allow employees to work remotely
"Consider creating a flexible work environment which allows employees to work from home if they can perform their job functions remotely."

4. Defer travel when possible
"If the meeting is urgent, it could potentially be held via teleconference or video conference."

5. Share flu prevention tips
"Education about how the flu is spread is one of the best ways to help reduce it. During flu season, circulating a document with helpful prevention tips is critical."
