Eye Associates of Boca Raton performs charitable eye surgeries: 5 things to know

Eye Associates of Boca Raton physicians provided free eye care for several patients on Nov. 23 as part of the "Gift of Sight" program, according to a Sun Sentinel report.

Here are five key notes:

1. The physicians performed 23 surgeries for patients, including cataract removal and pterygium surgeries to remove external eye growths, free of charge.

2. Howard Goodman, MD, founded the "Gift of Sight" program and Douglas Kohl, MD, organized the event this year. Other physicians involved include Mark Weiner, MD, Tatiana Lee-Chee, DO, and Salomon Salama, MD.

3. Anesthesiologists Steven Kiffel, MD, and Michelle Dresner, MD, participated in the event along with nursing staff at the surgical center. Physicians and staff donated their time for these procedures.

4. The Eye Associates and Caridad Center staff coordinated the event. The Caridad Center is working on a new four-room vision clinic, doubling its size.

5. There are six physicians associated with Eye Associates of Boca Raton and has served the community for more than 45 years.
