Dr. Michael Gardner joins executive leadership of Harris Health: 5 key points

Harris Health in Texas appointed Michael Gardner, MD, the executive vice president and administrator of ambulatory care services, an integrated network of health centers, specialty facilities, clinics and mobile health units.

Here are five key points:

1. Board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Gardner holds 26 years of healthcare experience.

2. Dr. Gardner previously worked at Harris Health as chief of obstetrics at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston until 2005.

3. Most recently, Dr. Gardner served as director of the division of maternal fetal medicine at Loma Linda (Calif.) University Children's Hospital.

4. He received his medical degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock and a master's degree in public health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and medical management form the University of Southern California.

5. Harris Health provides primary care and disease management and prevention healthcare services.

"The questions becomes, 'how do we make sure we have adequate subspecialty clinics and providers, such that we don't make a false promise to our patients where we don't have the capacity to provide them with a full-spectrum of services?'" said Dr. Gardner.
