Joseph Locker, MD, performed the first total hip replacement at Orthopaedic Surgery Center of Ocala (Fla.), according to an AmSurg report.
There are now 11 AmSurg centers performing total joint replacement procedures. Dr. Locker performed the first total hip replacement at his center earlier this week and the patient was discharged home after a successful procedure.
The Orthopaedic Surgery Center of Ocala, an AmSurg center, opened last year and includes three operating rooms as well as 10 recovery bays. The AAAHC-accredited ASC includes orthopedics and sports medicine care.
Dr. Locker focuses on sports medicine, shoulder, hip and knee procedures. He earned his medical degree at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and completed his residency training at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Florida Orthopaedic Society.
