California's Aspen Surgery Center Hosts High School Interns
Aspen Surgery Center in Simi Valley, Calif., recently hosted two high school interns, giving the students a first-hand look at the ASC's operations and the work of its surgeons, according to a Ventura County Star report.
During the four-week internship, for which the students earned credit toward graduation, they learned how surgery programs work and about many different surgical specialties and procedures, such as knee arthroscopy, colonoscopy and cataract removal.
They also helped with tasks around the ASC, including room turnover, making beds and cleaning gurneys, according to the report.
The students worked at the ASC for 80 hours from mid-June to mid-July.
